Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2010 Dodge Journey

What are your recommendations for a bike rack for a 2010 Dodge Journey. I do not have a hitch. Also, will I be able to open the back hatch with a bike rack on? Thanks!

The 2010 Dodge Journey has that upper spoiler-like piece with the third brake light in it at the top of the hatch. Because of that there is only one style of trunk mount bike rack I recommend: the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top racks # HRF2 for 2 bikes and # HRF2-3 for 3 bikes.

These racks have an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant to support weight). I have included a link to a video that shows how it works.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.

You will not be able to open the rear hatch while the bike rack is installed. The hatch could fall unexpectedly, loosen the fit of the rack to the vehicle, and even damage the metal on the vehicle where the hooks are attached.
