Why is Tow Hook of 2015 Toyota RAV4 Removed to Install Curt Hitch C12108

The installation video shows the removal of a stock tie-down bracket on the drivers side, but not the reinstallation of this bracket. I assume this bracket is used for towing, etc. Why is it not rei-installed when the hitch is put on?

The tow hook of the 2015 Toyota RAV4 that gets removed in the install video you mentioned (that is also attached to this page) is removed because the trailer hitch # C12108 uses it's attachment holes to install.

If you were to ever need to recover the vehicle you would just want to use the hitch as a recovery point instead of the tow hook.
