Recommendation for a MagnaFlow Muffler that has Agressive Sound for a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Liter

Question:

hey i was looking at this muffler for my 2001 dodge ram 2500. its a 5.9 liter v8. i want a single in/dual out muffler. does this produce a pretty loud, agressive deep tone, while not being too annoying? and how does it sound while accelerating quickly? Thanks

I spoke with one of my colleagues that has a MagnaFlow Muffler on his Trans AM with the LS1 350 engine and he says it has a nice aggressive tone, does not drone in the cab, and when you accelerate it is louder like most people want.

The muffler you selected, item # MF12198 is the smallest Universal muffler that Magnaflow makes and on a larger engine, like the 5.9 liter, this muffler is going to be very loud and will drone. This muffler has a 3 inch inlet and two 2-1/2 inch outlets. The standard outlet for your vehicle is 3 inches so you will need to come up with two tail pipes for the 2-1/2 inch outlets.

A better option for your vehicle, if you do not want a very loud muffler that drones in the cab would be an 18 inch muffler like the MagnaFlow Stainless Steel, Straight-Through Universal Muffler - Satin Finish, item # MF12288. This muffler will perform much like the muffler in my colleagues vehicle.

If you would like a complete cat back system, and you have an extended cab, short bed truck, we have the MagnaFlow Exhaust Systems for the Dodge Ram Pickup, 2001, item # MF15771, this system offers all of the parts needed to complete the exhaust from the cat back to the rear of the vehicle.
