Which Gooseneck Adapter is Best for My 2016 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
Can you explain to me why the Convert-A-Ball adapter with 8inch extension is not recommended to be used with the OEM prep package? My 5th wheel is not nearly as large or as heavy as my current gooseneck horse trailer.

I do have an adapter option for you but first let me explain why we do not recommend the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Adapter # CAB-C5GX1216. The gooseneck ball that is part of your OEM prep package has a plastic lever used to unlock and remove the ball. Inside the Convert-A-Ball adapter the shape is not completely round. The top is flatter than others causing the gooseneck ball to rub against the inside of the adapter and it will end up damaging the plastic lever.
The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139 is a better option because it is rounded on the inside and will not damage the gooseneck ball. I've attached a video review that you can take a look at.
