I have a solution for your 2-1/2 inch receiver on your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD.
Since you don't already have the trailer then the Fastway Solid-Tow Adjustable Ball Mount # DTSTBM6625 would be a great choice. This comes with 2 sized balls, 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch, and a weight capacity of up to 10,000lbs. This ball mount has an adjustable drop up to 6 inches and 1 inch increments so you could also have your 4 inch drop.
Typically, if the trailer is going to be on the heavier side with more weight loaded at the front of the trailer, I would recommend the 4 inch drop because with the added weight you are likely to end up level with the 4 inch drop.
While if the trailer is just going to be a lighter transporter you will want to get a 6 inch drop because it won't put as much pressure and weigh down the rear axle like a heavy trailer will.
I have linked the recommended Fastway ball mounts to this page for your purchasing convenience.
