Does Tow Ready Custom Vehicle Wiring # 118458 Require a Battery Connection, 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT
Question:
I have an 03 Vibe GT. Does this particular harness need power run directly from the battery? if so, is all cable included?

Expert Reply:
The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118458, does not require a direct connection to the battery when installing and can be used on your 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT.
However, the benefit of a system that does include a direct connection to the battery, like Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 55057, is that it protects your vehicles sensitive wiring from too much amperage draw from the trailer lights, which could damage the electrical system on your 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT. The fuse protected battery connection almost eliminates the power draw from your vehicle taillight wiring.
I have included a link to the installation details for both wiring harnesses below. Either one will work on your vehicle, but if you have a trailer with a lot of lights (additional sidemarker lights or other lights other than the stop, tail, and turn lights) I recommend going with the 55057 harness.
