Checking Bolts Included With Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch For 2005 Nissan Murano
Question:
Do you know what size bolts come with the hitch. The bolts that came with my hitch seem to be to big, they will not even start to thread. I was going to see if I could get a tap and chase the threads but Im not sure what size tap to get. I have a 2005 murano. I tried cleaning the threads to see if the were closed due to corrosion, but they dont seem to be.

The bolts that are included with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch, part # 75148 are M12 X 1.25 CL8.8 fasteners.
The fasteners should fit in the weldnuts on the frame of your Murano. You may want to take a fastener to a local hardware store and compare the threads and size to make sure you have the right size.
There may be corrosion you can't see on the threads. Try using a penetrant like PB Blaster and spray the threads, then let it sit overnight. Then spray again the next day and clean the threads with a nylon brush like part # 814092 to make sure the threads in the weldnuts are clear.
I do recommend checking the size of the bolts before chasing the threads on the vehicle to make sure you have the correct ones.
