Availability of Parts to Convert Mobile Home Frame to Utility Trailer

Question:

Hi, I got free mobile home frame I am cutting down to use a 16 foot utility trailer. Wondered about the hubs and axles. Look pretty beefy but would at least like to convert hubs and brakes to standard size wheels and tires. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

We offer a wide range of trailer axles, hubs, brakes, wheel and tires. I have included links to all product pages for you.

New hubs need to use the same bearings as the ones being replaced. This ensures the new hubs will fit on your spindles. You also want to choose hubs that have the weight capacity needed for the axle and the same bolt pattern as used by the wheels/tires you want to install. You can check the axle for a sticker that indicates its capacity.

One thing you'll want to note for your project of converting a mobile home frame to a utility trailer is that the axles used on mobile homes are intended for one use only, to transport the unit to its permanent location. Mobile home axles should not be used for ongoing use on a trailer because they are not made to stand up to this kind of usage.

We do offer trailer axles and some are complete kits with hubs, brakes, etc., such as the 3500-lb Trailer Axle Kit # e43SR which includes the 89-inch axle beam, 5-on-4-1/2 hub/drums, electric drum brakes, bearings, races, seals, grease caps, wheel studs, lug nuts, and marine-grade wheel bearing grease. These can be used with a wheel/tire like Kenda # AM32545 which is a ST225/75R15 radial trailer tire on a 15-inch 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern wheel.
