Question:
I have an 04 fullsize chevy pickup just bought a voyager brake controller hooked it up to the factory harness and now the light on the controler stays on even with the truck off and when im driving without the trailer hooked up the red light turns on when i hit the brakes can you help or is that normal.

What you are experiencing is not normal. How have you wired the controller to the factory harness? The colors DO NOT match up color for color. Please confirm that it is wired correctly. The red wire on the factory harness matches up to the black wire on the controller. The light blue harness wire attaches to the red wire on the controller. The black wire on the harness attaches to the white wire on the controller, and the dark blue harness wire attaches to the blue wire on the controller. The brown wire is for an illumintion circuit and is NOT used. Bundle that wire up and cap it off.
I'd also recommend examining the 7-way connector on the vehicle and on the trailer, making sure it's not damaged or corroded. Clean or repair as needed.
