Compatibility of Lubrimatic LMX Red Grease # L11390 for Boat Trailer
Question:
I dont know what type of grease I have in my newly installed bearings and bearing buddies. I dont have the capability of lifting the trailer or removing the grease from the bearings. Whats the risk of just using the LMX red product going forward without knowing what grease is in there now? I dont want to lose another wheel while trailering my 8,000 lb boat. thanks,

Depending on the base of the grease that is already in your boat trailer, it may be compatible with the LMX red grease. If you know who last serviced the trailer, like a marina or dealer, you will want to check with them before just combining the current and the red grease. Incompatible greases can break each other down. If you cannot find out what grease was used, you will need to remove all the old grease before using the new grease to prevent any further issues and damage to the components in your hub.
For your boat trailer, I recommend LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease - 14 oz. Cartridge Item # L11390. This grease has many uses, including wheel bearings. It has a special calcium sulfonate complex, water insoluble formula which is ideal for marine applications.
I have included a link to the right to our Help Article on greases that should help.
