I have a solution for you, but the part # C16210 would not fit the factory rail kit of your 2016 Ford F-250 6-3/4 foot bed.

You would need to go with a # RP30156 instead. This will fit the factory pucks in the bed of your truck to provide you with a set of industry standard fifth wheel rails like what the adapter you mentioned is designed to do.

I attached an install video that shows how this would install in a similar Ford truck as yours.

Since you have a short bed truck you would need to go with a slider hitch if you don't have one already.

For that the Titan 16 part # RP30869 would be a great option as it has a cushioned head, a 360 contact jaw system, and a round tube slider that would activate smoother than a square tube slider.
