Distance Between Fifth Reese Wheel Rails When Installed in Bed of Truck

Question:

2013 GMC Sierra 1500 6.5 ft bed. Stationary Reese 16k hitch. I have the install kit 50064-58 from etrailers. The hitch is 1000 miles away with the traileer at dads house. My question is what is the proper distance between the rails in the bed since I do not have the hitch available. Im going the second week in June to pick the trailer up and am hoping to be able to just his hitch in the bed of my truck and hook up the trailer.

The distance on center that you want have between fifth wheel rails is right at 22 inches. Typically we recommend you place the rear edge where the installation instructions recommend and then use the fifth wheel hitch to place the front rail. But if you don't have a hitch available using 22 inches would be the correct dimension.
