Replacement Brake Shoes and Brake Magnets for Dexter 4.4K, 10 inch x 2-1/4 inch Trailer Brakes

Question:

Hello, I have a 2014 forrest river 5th wheel camper dual axle that I need to replace my brake magnets and brake shoes on. I have a 4,000 lb axle with 4.4K Dexter brakes. My drum diameter is 10inch and the brake shoe width is 2.25. Could you confirm what I need for magnets and a brake shoe replacement kit. I believe I need the K71-125-00 for the brake magnets and the K71-672-00 for the brake shoe replacement kit. When I researched the K71-125-00 part number it says for a 12x2inch hub. My hub diameter is clearly 10.....can I use this magnet? Thanks!

I can certainly help you find the replacement brake shoe and brake magnets for your Dexter brake assemblies on your 2014 Forest River. We have different part numbers for the replacement parts you listed, but they are the correct parts for your brake assemblies.

To replace the brake shoes, you will want the 10 Inch x 2-1/4 Inch Electric Brake Shoe/Lining (One Wheel) # BP04-095. This brake shoe pad is designed to replace Dexter 10 inch x 2-1/4 inch electric brakes. I confirmed this with my contact at Dexter. The # BP04-095 part number includes replacement brake shoes for one brake assembly. If both of your trailer axles have electric brakes, you will want 4 of these to replace the brake shoes in each brake assembly.

The replacement bake magnet for your Dexter 4.4K, 10 x 2-1/4 inch, electric brake assemblies is the Trailer Brake Magnet, Dexter # BP01-225. As you found, this magnet is also listed as a fit for the 12 inch x 2 inch brake assemblies. I confirmed that this is the correct replacement magnet for your 10 x 2-1/4 inch assemblies. Again, this part number includes only 1 magnet, so to replace all of your brake magnets you will want 4 of # BP01-225.

Often times it is simply easier to replace the entire brake assembly when parts begin to wear out. I have attached a link to all of our 4.4K brake assemblies for you. These assemblies match the capacity and dimension you provided for me from your existing brakes. If you'd like to let me know the part number on your brake assemblies, I will be happy to determine if we have a replacement.
