Automatic Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2005 Ford F-350 Short Bed
Question:
Looking to buy a hitch, something like: Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs Dont care about brand or weight, my trailer is 12,000 fully loaded. I want an auto slide function, can be above bed. Cheaper the better!! Im getting confused, in addition, do i need the capture plate and rails, or will this simply fit into the bed of my truck? I have holes in the floor bed, nothing else... Its a F350, 2005 superduty, shortbed.

Expert Reply:
The most cost-effective option we offer for an automatic sliding fifth wheel hitch for your 2005 Ford F-350 short bed would be to use the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 for the hitch and then universal rails part # DM8552001-71 although for the price I would highly recommend you go with a custom install rail kit like part # DM8552002-71 since the install will be much easier. The install time will be cut in half and frame drilling will be minimized.
