Features Found on 16K 5th Wheel Hitches for 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with 6-1/2-Foot Bed
Question:
MAY NEED 16 K HITCH NOT 15 K TOWING dlb trailers

When you go from a 15K-rated 5th wheel hitch to a 16K-rated model you tend to find some additional features that are often not available on 15K models. These features can include a double jaw system and a cushioned pivoting head. I suggest a 16K hitch for this reason, even if the 15K has enough capacity for your trailer.
The easiest installation in your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with 6-1/2-foot bed is going to be a custom-fit installation kit # RP50064-58. This kit's brackets use existing holes in the truck frame so there is no frame drilling required to install the rails. This will save you a good bit of time as compared to a universal kit like # RP30035. I linked an install video showing this kit in a 2009 2500 HD. If you need a wiring harness use part # PK11893-11932.
A hitch like the Reese Titan 16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch RP30869 offers serrated dual jaws for excellent king pin contact (less chucking and jarring). A wide 9-inch funnel and a 4-way pivoting head mean easier hitching on uneven ground.
