Wiring Harness & Brake Controller Kit Recommendation for 2008 Ford Escape
Question:
We are looking at small hybrid travel trailers. I know that I will need to hook up a 7 pin plug and an electronic break control. My question is is there ano all Inclusive wiring kit I can buy to do both? Or as I read on your site if I put the 3 relay switches in my 2008 the existing trailer plug will work which I could then add a 4 plug converter to. Would I do that and then do the 7 plug converter kit and harness?

We do offer an all inclusive kit for wiring in a trailer brake controller like the popular Prodigy P2 # 90885. Kit # ETBC7 contains a 7-way vehicle socket, and all of the wiring, connectors and other parts needed to install the P2 in your 2008 Ford Escape that does not have a factory trailer connector.
All you need to add is a 4-pole harness, which is the starting point for the install. If you have the factory tow package use part # 118251 along with three of relay part # TR38665. If you do not have the factory tow package then instead use 4-pole harness kit # 118551.
If you are uncertain whether or not you have the tow package you can ask your dealership to run the car's VIN; this will tell them exactly what equipment it had when it left the factory. Or you can simply look under the car for a connector to match the one on part # 118251, which is shown in the linked photo.
Two install videos and an article are linked for you to assist your installations.
