How To Connect 4-Pole Flat Vehicle Connector On Jeep Liberty To 5-Pole Flat Boat Trailer Connector

Question:

i am going to install trailer harness part # 118524 on my 2006 jeep liberty limited. my boat trailer has a 5 pin flat connector because of the brakes on the trailer. what else do i need to buy to make this all work for me. maybe a different wiring kit or an adapter .

On your 2006 Jeep Liberty the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118524, is the correct wiring harness. Using the Tow Ready Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, # 20036, will work on your vehicle to give you the adapter to plug into your trailers 5-pole connector. That would be everything you need, no other wiring or adapters.

The 5-pole connector on the Tow Ready adapter will plug into your boat trailers 5-pole and the other end will have a 4-pole connector that will plug into your vehicles 4-pole connector. There will be an extra wire attached to the 4-pole adapter end with a separate pin that will plug into the extra blue wire and that wire will have to be tapped into your reverse light circuit of your Jeep Liberty.

I am sending a video link of the Tow Ready Adapter being installed on a 2006 Kia Sedona. It is a different vehicle but the wiring principle will be the same.
