Can a Factory Transmission Cooler be Bypassed by an Aftermarket Cooler

Question:

I had a question in regards to a transmission cooler for my truck. I drive a 2007 Chevy Silverado, 1500, Classic body style, with a 4.8liter engine. I have watched a number of videos about installing theses kits and it seems to me that all of the trucks have factory coolers mounted somewhere in front of the radiator, my factory transmission lines run directly into the back of the radiator. Do any of the transmission cooler kits you offer eliminate this? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Expert Reply:

You can bypass your factory cooler if you wanted to, but typically people use our coolers like the popular # D13503 as a supplemental cooler installed downstream of the factory cooler.

To bypass yours though would only require you to run the lines of your factory cooler to the # D13503 instead.
