Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2015 Lexus NX 200t and Parts Needed to Tow Trailer
Question:
I would like to inquire about a trailer hitch for a 2015 Lexus NX 200t. What do I need to be able to attach and use a rental motorcycle trailer with a maximum trailer weight of 1,500 pounds. The link says it attaches to 2inch or 1 7/8inch ball, also.

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2015 Lexus NX 200t is the Draw-Tite Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75956. I like this hitch because there is no drilling required to install this trailer hitch and it has great reviews from our customers. This trailer hitch has a 3500 pound towing capacity, which is plenty to tow a 1,500 pound motorcycle trailer. The installation instructions for the hitch are linked for you.
You will also need trailer wiring, a ball mount, and hitch ball to tow the trailer.
For trailer wiring, I recommend the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118652. This wiring will install directly into your vehicle's existing wiring. The powered converter will need to be connected to the vehicle's battery. With a powered converter, there is no possibility of overloading the vehicle's electrical system, since the trailer's lights get power directly from the battery.
For a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip, I recommend the etrailer.com ball mount kit # 989900. This kit includes a ball mount with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop, a ball mount with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, a 1-7/8 inch diameter hitch ball, a 2 inch diameter hitch ball, a pin and clip, and a storage bag.
If these ball mounts don't provide the needed rise or drop to allow you to tow the trailer level, I have attached a help article on measuring for the correct rise or drop for you. I have linked you to the ball mount page as well.
I have also linked help articles on parts needed to tow a trailer and trailer towing tips for you.
