Recommended Brake Controller for 2003 Mercedes-Benz M Class

Question:

Do you have any suggestions on a brake controller for a Mercedes M class 2003 that will tow a trailer less than 5k pounds with a single axle? Thanks

Expert Reply:

I'd recommend using a proportional type brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. A proportional controller will sense the rate that the tow vehicle is braking, and will send the proper amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so the vehicle and trailer brake at the same rate for safe, reliable and predictable braking. To install the controller, you'd need our brake controller installation kit, part # ETBC7 and a functional 4-pole trailer connector. If the vehicle doesn't already have a 4 pole connector, you can install one using part # C59496.

I'll link you to installation instructions for the ETBC7 kit and to some FAQ articles about brake controllers.
