Can I Replace Standard Spindles with EZ-Lube Spindles Without Replacing the Entire Axle Assembly
Question:
I goofed hand packing my standard bearing hubs and ruined them. I want to replace the hub and spindle with an ez lube assembly. Can I do this on the existing axle tube or do I start over with a complete ezlube axle? I have nothing to salvage on the existing hubs.

You can cut off the old spindle and have an EZ-Lube spindle welded on your current axle. I would recommend using the same size spindle, just the EZ-Lube version, as your trailer originally came with.
That being said, new hub assemblies and bearings should be hand greased when first installed. You have to get a good coating on all the bearings first, then you can use an EZ-Lube spindle to fill up assembly and do the packing for you.
You will still have to perform regular maintenance. Dissembling the hubs periodically, cleaning the old grease off the parts and inspecting for heat damage.
I have added a link to a video that shows a typical maintenance routine with an EZ-Lube spindle trailer.
