What Does the Black Box Do for the Ford LED Lighted Emblem

Question:

I bought a 86 mustang GT with a similar light in the grill. It had a little black box between the lifht and where you hook it up to a power soarse. I had someone unhook it and have lost it now. I believe that it reduced the current but not sure. My question is can i hook the light up without the box? I was afraid of blowing it up or messing it up somehow without it. Can you please help me out. Thanks a lot!!

The little box that you mentioned is a converter box meant to separate out a turn signal function from a brake light function so that the lighted emblem # RP86620 does not blink when a turn signal is activated.

The light itself should have 1 ground wire and 1 power wire. If you attach the power wire to a running/head light wire on your 1986 Mustang then it will light up when the vehicle lights are on and turn off when the vehicle head lights are turned off.

I also caution you about having any sort of red or blue light at the front of your vehicle. In many places it is illegal except for emergency vehicles. So just be aware of that!
