How to Determine if Used Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar is Complete

Question:

I purchased your part # RM52144-5 which bolts to my 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. I have a Falcon 2 tow bar that came with my motorhome. My question is the towbar has a piece similar to the cross piece shown with the Falcon 2 tow bar. I assume that the piece I purchased replaces the crossbar that the towbar pins to. Just want to make sure for safety if someone could let me know. Contact me if you need a better description. Thank you

The # RM-521448-5 base plates install to the front frame structure of the vehicle. The crossbar you speak of that came with your # RM-520 falcon tow bar consists of a crossbar for stability and a quick disconnect that allows the tow bar to be quickly disconnected from the vehicle just by pulling two linchpins.

To be sure you have all the necessary parts, take a quick look at the instructions for the Falcon 2 Tow Bar that I've linked for you. Looking over the instructions will easily help you determine if you're missing anything. If you are missing parts, please let me know, and I'll direct you to the correct replacement parts.

In addition to the tow bar and base plates, you'll also need safety cables a wiring solution, possibly a high low adapter and a supplemental braking system. For safety cables, go with part # RM-643. For wiring, the Hopkins # HM56200 would provide a plug and play installation. You'd also need an umbilical, part # RM-164-7 to connect the vehicle and the RV (assuming the RV has a 7-way trailer connector.) For a supplemental braking system, I really like the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251. The install is more involved but after that you just flp a switch when you're ready to tow.

You might also need a high low adapter, click the provided link to the FAQ page that will help you determine if an adapter is needed. I've also linked you to instructions and several Install videos that I hope you'll find helpful.
