Can a 4-Way Flat Connector on a Boar Trailer be Plugged into a 5-Way Float on a Tow Vehicle

Question:

Hello I have 2 boats, one with trailer brakes and one without. My tow vehicle has a flat 5 pin plug on it to accommodate the boat with brakes. My question is do they make an adapter to convert the 4 pin plug on my old boat without brakes to the 5 pin connector on my tow vehicle or do i just leave the last plug on the tow vehicle unplugged when I tow the old boat the no brakes?

You can just plug the 4-Way connector on the boat trailer into the 5-Way connector on the vehicle and it will work; just like you have described. There are some cases where some 4- and 5-Way connectors will not physically plug into one another. If that is the case with your set up you could splice in a 5-Way on the trailer using # HM47910 and just put a wire nut on the very last wire since it will not be used on that particular trailer.
