Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2016 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot Bed

Question:

I am buying a hitch for a small 5500 lbs GVWR 5th wheel trailer, towing with a 2016 Ford F-150 SuperCrew 5.5foot bed. I want a sliding hitch because I need to maneuver into a couple of tight parking places. Most all? of your sliders have a warning that they cant be used in a truck with less than a 6foot bed. Why is this? Do you have any that can be? Ive seen comments that at least some of these hitches work fine... Thanks

We have one slider hitch that will allow a vehicle with a 5-1/2 foot bed tow a trailer. The Demco part # DM8550040 can slide 22-1/2 inches which would be enough to allow a 5-1/2 foot bed to make a tight turn. This hitch is relatively new so most people aren't aware of it so that is why you are seeing people say a slider hitch won't work on your truck.

You will just need a set of industry standard fifth wheel rails installed in the bed of your 2016 Ford F-150 and you would be good to go. For that you would want a custom install kit like part # RP56034-53 which will minimize drilling and install time. I attached an install video for these rails for you to check out as well.
