Platform Bike Rack Recommendation that Will Fit Folded Up on a 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
I have a 2013 Subaru Outback with a draw-tite 2inch class 3 hitch. Will the Thule 69tx T2 Hitch mount rack clear the rear bumper when it is in the stored position?

Expert Reply:
The Thule T2 # TH69TX, would not clear the rear bumper when folded up. It would need 1/2 more inch of clearance when folded to be able to do that.
When we installed the hitch you have, part # 75673, on a 2013 Outback just like yours we found that it had a distance of 5-1/2 inches from the pin hole to the furthest point on bumper. The T2 only has 5 inches from hitch pin hole to nearest part of rack when folded.
For a very similar bike rack that would clear the bumper and would fit when folded up you would want the Kuat NV part # NV22G. This has 7 inches from the pin hole to the nearest part of the rack when folded so it would fit and work well. I attached a demo video that shows this rack being installed on a 2013 Outback just like yours for you to check out as well.
