Easy Way to Bypass Non-Functioning Reverse Light Circuit on Trailer Connector

Question:

I know I did not buy the Mopar factory harness from etrailer.com, But I have bought several hitches, wiring harnesses and a bike rack over the years. I am not getting a backup signal at the center terminal of a 7-way RV connector. I have continuity from the RV connector to the respective plug cavity that goes to the powered control module. I also have continuity from the plug cavity that goes to the backup light T connector. You you think I could jumper around the control module so that I have a direct connection from the tow vehicle backup light circuit to the center connector on the RV socket? The backup lights on my trailer are LED single emitter for right and a single emitter for the left, so the amp draw would be minimal. The tow vehicle backup bulbs are W21W incandescents. Maybe you can help me on this?

For your situation I would recommend bypassing the Mopar harness and get the reverse light directly from the reverse light harness of your vehicle. This will eliminate the trouble of trying to track down the problem and will solve the problem pretty effectively.

Aside from that you could try checking fuses that are trailer wiring related under the hood of the vehicle as that could be an easy fix as well.
