How to Correct Rear-End Sag in 2015 Toyota Tundra Using Weight Distribution for 4500-lb Trailer
Question:
I tow a 4500lb travel trailer 460 hitch weight for long distances and often on snowy roads. I would like my truck a 2015 tundra to sit more level. The weight distribution hitch helps some but the front is still raised about 1.5 inches and the rear squats about 2 inches. Rarely is there more than 200lbs in the truck bed. What is my best option to eliminate? The Firestone system has been recommended. Super springs?? With air bags I assume I would couple the truck-trailer, inflate the bags to eliminate some but not all the rear squat then connect the weight distribution hitch Anderson weight distribution hitch?? Any help appreciated before I order. Regards.

I suggest you check your trailer's fully loaded tongue weight (TW) using a scale like # 5780 and compare this to the rating for your weight distribution (WD) system to ensure it is rated high enough for the actual trailer load. You may be able to simply adjust or re-install your WD system to correct the rear-end sag. Or, you may be able to just replace the spring bars with stiffer ones that can handle more trailer TW.
Air bags are a good solution when carrying loads in the truck bed. Since they can be inflated individually to compensate for uneven loads in the bed, air bags can really help with suspension issues related to cargo hauling. But since you are using WD already, and that is the better way to level your truck, I suggest you confirm it is rated correctly and set-up properly for your actual TW.
Note you also need to add the weight of anything in the truck bed to the measured TW figure and choose a system based on that total TW.
