How to Test to See if Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller Is Functioning Without Trailer
Question:
I purchased a Tekonsha brake controller code #39523-TM75127. I installed it on a 2008 Honda Odyssey and wanted to know how I can tell if it is working or has power to the controller without hooking it up to a trailer. It has a small LED light but it doesnt seem to be lit up. Thanks

Using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 you can test the brake output pin on the 7-way of your vehicle for voltage while you slide the manual override lever of the controller. The indicator light of the controller will not come on until a trailer is connected so you should see it turn green when the circuit tester is touching it.
You should also be able to lightly touch the brake pedal and watch as the voltage of the controller slowly ramps up over time depending on the settings of the controller.
I attached a troubleshooting article on brake controllers for you to check out as well.
