Compatibility of 5th Wheel Hitch with Tool Box/Transfer Tank in 2015 Ram 2500 Mega Cab 4X4

Question:

Trying to find out if I can put a fifth wheel hitch in my 2015 Ram Mega cab 2500 4x4. Ive already installed a fuel/toolbox combo that sticks out 22inch from the front of the bed. I need to find out if one of your sliding hitches like the Pro Slider 15k will still fit. The installer that put my tank in says it fit but Im skeptical at best. Thanks!

You can compare the installation instructions for a sliding 5th wheel hitch to determine if there will be enough space for it along with the tool box/transfer tank you have installed in your 2015 Ram Mega Cab 2500 with 6-foot bed and no factory rail kit.

With Curt base rail install kit # C16427-204 the position of the front-facing edge of the front base rail on a 6-foot bed will be 54-1/4-inches from the rear edge of the truck bed (not the tailgate) as shown in the linked diagram taken from the instructions. This dimension will allow you to check the fit with your tool box. An install video is linked for you too.

The slider hitch I suggest is the Curt 16K # C16521. This hitch includes important features like a fully-articulating head assembly for easier hitching on uneven ground and dual jaws for better king pin contact. Both of these will improve ride quality. And the hitch's 12-inches of slider travel gives you the turning clearance you need with a short bed.

For a wiring harness use part # C56000 which plugs right in at your bumper-mounted 7-way, no cutting or splicing required.
