Brake Controller Install Parts Recommendation for a 2008 Ford F-150 with 4-Way
Question:
Have a 2008 F150 with a factory installed 4pin flat trailer connector. Want to change to a 7pin round and add a brake controller for a new trailer, deleting the 4pin connector. I think these items will make the change simple. 118247 Tow Package Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector 39523 Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Time Delayed 3035-P Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury please confirm. Thank you,

I have a solution for you, but the part # 118247 has not been confirmed as a fit for a 2008 Ford F-150 so it would not work for you.
You would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
The PowerTrac part # 39523 would work too, but it's a time-delayed controller that applies a preset amount of braking power to the trailer's brakes over a preset amount of time. This would not be the best setup since most people don't stop the same way twice.
