Surge Coupler for A-Frame Trailer with Disc Brakes
Question:
I am in the process of looking at disc brake systems for my enclosed trailer. The question I have is that the system sold has an actuator for a straight spine trailer. I need a weld-on actuator that is flared. Is there any such package, or will the products need to be purchased separately. I do not want electric brakes as I tow with multiple vehicles and do not want to wire all of them for controllers.

We do offer two disc brake surge coupler/actuators that will fit a standard 50-degree a-frame trailer. Both of these actuators come from Demco.
Actuator # DM8105422 is primed red and intended for weld-on installation. It includes a breakaway and an electric reverse lockout feature that can be activated by the tow vehicle's reverse light circuit to allow you to back up the trailer with engaging the brakes. This unit has a tongue weight rating of 1250-lbs and a gross towing weight rating of 12,500-lbs.
Actuator # DM8205222 is similar but has a TW rating of 2000-lbs and a GTW rating of 20,000-lbs.
A link to all a-frame surge couplers is provided also. This link shows both drum and disc actuators and you can use the filters to narrow the product results shown based on your requirements. You will have more options in drum brake actuators.
