Spare Tire Carrier for a Front Mounted Trailer Hitch

Question:

Hi, I have a Ford E-350 based Class C RV and right now I have my spare 16inch dually wheel/tire mounted on the front, which I accomplished using a Draw-Tite front hitch and Draw Tite 6715 Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier plus a J pin stabilizer all purchased from etrailer. These work great, except for two minor points: 1 The tire sits really far out ahead of the vehicle and on an odd angle due to design of spare carrier. 2 Its hard to handle due to the weight. Im potentially interested in this carrier, the RM-195225 but would like a couple of measurements. 1 How high would the center of a 16inch rim be from some known place on the existing receiver tube, so I can measure the height on my current one is good, wouldnt want it much higher. 2 What is the distance from the face of my receiver tube to the plate that the tire mounts on, forward/aft? Or what is the range of distances? Thanks!

Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195225 is going to be much taller than the carrier you have now, # 6715. I don't have an exact number but where the top of your spare tire is now is roughly where the center of it would be if using carrier # RM-195225.

One option is to use a different version of what you have now, # C31006. The difference is that this carrier has 3 hitch pin holes allowing you to adjust how close the spare is to the vehicle. I have included a link to a video review of this carrier for you.
