Availability of Anti-Rattle Device for Bike Rack Installed in 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Receiver

Question:

Hello, I purchased a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4inch along with the Swagman Titan 2-Bike Rack for 1-1/4inch and 2inch Hitches - Tilting and I have noticed that there is play in between the receiver and the racks shank that causes it to move side-to-side when driving. Currently, I am using the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4inch Hitches - Flush - 2inch Span - Chrome because I like the locking function, but it does not provide sufficient support in the receiver. I have attempted to find a solution for the movement but I am not sure which option would work best for what I have. I would prefer to use a threaded locking pin but I am unsure which would fit the thread pattern of the Swagman's shank. Could you advise which of your products would work with my specific rack? Thank you, Jeff

When the hitch is manufactured, the receiver tube can actually be a tiny bit larger than 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inches, but still within tolerance. The shank of the bike rack can actually be a tiny bit smaller than 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch, but still be within tolerance. This is what causes the movement you're experiencing.

What you're needing is what's known as an anti-rattle device. for this Swagman Titan # S63400 bike rack, you will need the , Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman Hitch Racks part # S64029. The quiet hitch will pull the shank of the bike rack up against the wall of the receiver tube and hold it there tightly, preventing the rack from wobbling around.

If you click the provided link, you can see a video showing exactly how the hitch pin works.
