Will Trailer Wiring on a 2016 Chevy Malibu LTZ Drain Vehicle Battery
Question:
2016 Malibu Limited, not LTZ. If the wiring has a connection directly to the battery, isnt it then always one even when the ignition is off? What prevents battery discharge when the engine is not running?

The power wire for the Curt wiring harness part # C56176 will always have power since it does connect directly to the vehicle battery. However, unless there is a circuit attached to it that would allow amperage to draw from the power it would not just discharge into thin air. There would have to be something connected to it otherwise it doesn't go anywhere.
Also, the circuits would need to be activated on the vehicle for power to go to any of the pins on the 4-way. The power wire is for supplying the amperage to the trailer wiring, but the signal wires that attach to the vehicle wiring are what allows the power to make it past the converter box. So long story short...the battery of your 2016 Chevy Malibu would not drain with this kit installed.
