What Tilting Bike Rack Options are Available for 2001 Ford Ranger that Will Allow Tailgate Function

Question:

I have a 2001 ford rander with the hole in the rear bumper for a hitch ball. Do you have a rack for 2 bikes that will fit on my truck? Also, does it fold away so that I can lower my tail gate? One more question, I need the rack to be able to carry bikes that have different size frames.

We do have a couple of ball hole mount bike racks but they do not have the tilting ability. They would allow use of different size frames, but those cradle types would not be as secure as individual cradles.

If you were to add a hitch to your Ranger, there are several hitch mounted bike racks that will tilt-down or swing out. Some tilt-down racks may not come down far enough for a truck bed tail gate.

I would probably choose Curt hitch part # 13019. You could also use a bumper mounted hitch like part # E-3S from Curt. I would then couple that with SportRack bike rack, part # SR2703. This rack should tilt down far enough to allow tailgate use and the individual cradles will allow use of varying size bike frames.
