Will Brake Pedal on 2013 Ford Fiesta Work Once Battery Has Been Disconnected
Question:
Your earlier answer about flat towing a Fiesta was very helpful. My additional question is does the brake pedal on the Fiesta work when the battery is disconnected, so that the supplemental braking system works properly? If the brake pedal needs power to function, is there a way to provide that power while the battery is disconnected at the negative terminal? Thanks for your help. I called Ford customer service. They were not able to answer my question. Suggested I call a dealer, which I can do if you do not know.

The brake pedal on your 2013 Ford Fiesta will work when the battery is disconnected.
However, when using a system like the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400, you will want to use the 12V Outlet Kit # RM-9332 in order to provide power to the supplemental braking system. This outlet kit will use the vehicle battery to provide power to the braking system while still allowing the battery disconnect to disconnect the battery from the rest of the vehicle. I have attached a video of the outlet kit being installed on a 2013 Ford Focus.
For the 2013 Ford Fiesta, you will also need the Stop Light Switch # RM-751450. The stop light switch will activate the motor home brake-monitoring system whenever the brake pedal in the Fiesta is applied.
If you can let me know which braking system you are interested in, I will be happy to let you know if/what any additional parts are needed.
