Platform Style Bike Carrier for a 1-1/4 Inch Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2015 Subaru Outback

Hello, I have a 2015 Subaru Outback with a Class I trailer hitch installed. I am interested in the Yakima HoldUp-2 bike rack. Will this bike rack work with a class I hitch? If not, would a 2-inch adaptor be appropriate?

There is a 1-1/4 inch version of the Yakima HoldUp, # Y02445, however, it will only work with Class II hitches and not Class I hitches. The use of an adapter is not recommended because it reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent and produces more stress on the hitch and where it attaches to the vehicle.

For a similar carrier that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch you can use the Kuat Sherpa, # SH12G, Kuat Transfer, # TS02G, Saris Freedom SuperClamp EX, # SA4025F, or any of the options in the provided link.
