Keeping Snow Out of E-Tracks on a Snowmobile Trailer and Corrosion Prevention

Question:

Hello, I purchased a whole bunch of e-tracks for my snowmobile trailer and they are awesome of course. Couple questions: any idea on how to keep the snow and ice from accumulating inside of the tracks? We have only had one snowfall so far this year and they filled up immediately with nothing covering them. The trailer lives outside. Is there some accessory you sell for this? Would be a cool new idea for you guys if not. Secondly, I am starting to see some rust on my e-tracks here and there. I am seeing it mostly on the sections I have cut on my metal chop saw so this is probably normal considering I did not re-galvanize the parts I cut. Any suggestions on preventing this rust besides paint or spray lube?

I think I have come up with a unique method that could potentially keep snow from getting into the e-tracks you have installed on your snowmobile trailer. What you could do is use an e-track strap, such as # SLLS28CER, and attach one end to the last slot in the track and the other to the opposite last slot in the track. If you then ratchet it down it should block most of the openings in the track.

Otherwise, a tarp such as # EM57057 would cover everything up and it can be used for other things when not protecting the e-track from the elements! Keeping the tracks covered will help prevent further corrosion. Painting would definitely help as well and would be the method I would choose though be sure to use a paint that is designed for use on galvanized metal.
