Replacing Handle of a VanAir Vent part # VP-543SP

Question:

I have one of these fans installed in the shower stall in my Airstream trailer. It has a longer body than the one I have in my toilet. I can remove the handle and screen in the toilet fan but the shower fan handle does not come down far enough to clear the body and so I cant get at the screws securing the handle. So how to remove the handle. Another user commented on the Airstream Forum that their handle was broken

The replacement handle for the VanAir Vent part # VP-543SP that you referenced is the part # BVA0207-05.

I attached a diagram that points out where the components of the replacement handle are in relation to the vent.

Looks like you would need to pull the handle down far enough to allow access to the screws on either side of the handle.

If you cannot pull the handle down far enough to give you access to the screws you would need to remove the vent so that you can get to them.
