The Hopkins Tailgate EasyLift # 74211 includes as part of its packaging a template for locating the appropriate drilling points for the two holes needed to install it. Use a scissor to cut out the template from the packaging. The included directions indicate that the bottom of the template should be placed on the flat sill of the truck bed, with the left end of it slid behind the driver-side pivot post. Figure 1 in the instructions illustrates this positioning. You can also refer to the linked installation video to see the process shown by our installers.

For your Ford truck you will use the upper mark on the template (noted as 3-3/4-inch) to locate the position of hole A.

The second hole B is to be drilled into the tailgate's bottom surface after marking and removing it. This is also shown in the video.
