Trailer Hitch Extender for Flat Towing a Jeep Rubicon Behind a Truck
Question:
Currently, I tow my jeep rubicon using a blue ox tow bar and a 6inch receiver adapter the jeep baseplate is 6inch higher than my truck hitch. Can I use a 6inch receiver adapter on the end of a 24inch Reese hitch extension? Thanks.

Technically, if the receiver hitch on the tow vehicle has a 2-1/2 inch opening then you could use Titan extension # RP45292 provided the Jeep weighs less than 6,000 pounds (for the 24 inch length) or less than 4,500 pounds (for the 34 inch length). But this would be excessive extension once the tow bar and high low adapter are added and would create a lot of unwanted movement in the Jeep so I do not recommend it.
If you have a 2 inch trailer hitch opening then I actually recommend the Blue Ox extender # BX88264. It provides 12 inches of extension.
Using an extension will decrease the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch by 50 percent. Normally 2-1/2 inch extensions do not reduce the tongue weight but with a high/low adapter and the tow bar in the chain it is better to err on the side of caution.
