How To Apply Grease When Using EZ-Lube Axles
Question:
Just received two Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly and new L and R electric brakes assemblies. Thanks for the fast shipping!!! I plan to install in the next couple days at the same time I plan to remove the other two axles drums and replace the grease in the hub and re-pack the bearings. How much grease should go in the cavity area between the bearing? Axles also have a grease zerk on the end of the axle where I can add grease after installed. This is a snowmobile trailer. Thanks

When you are assembling the hub components you want to make sure you fill every space of the bearings with grease like part # L11465. To make this easier you can use a bearing packer like part # L70025. If you do not have one, you can use a grease gun like part # L30200. After you have packed the bearings you will want to apply a thin layer of grease to the spindle before installing the remaining parts.
Then, insert your bearings and grease seal in the hub and mount your hub on your spindle. You should slowly pump grease into the spindle. As you pump grease into the spindle, you can rotate the hub so it allows the grease to be applied evenly.
You will want to continue to pump grease till you see the outer bearing move or you see grease coming out through the outer bearing. You want to be careful not to blow out the grease seal. You can then install the remaining parts.
I have attached a helpful article that explains how to replace and install bearings, races, and seals.
