Replacement Wheels and Tires for Homemade 1/4 Ton Utility Trialer

Question:

I have a 1943 homebuilt 1/4 ton utility trailer that I would like to replace the wheels and tires for. The wheels are 4 on 4 with 1/2 holes, 2 1/2inch pilot hole. The tires are B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Travelers with a 4 ply rating and a size of 5.70-5.00-8. Overall diameter is 18 inches. My question is whether the Kenda AM30120 tire with wheel is a satisfactory replacement?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Kenda 5.70-8 Wheel/Tire combo you mentioned, part # AM30120 would be an excellent replacement. It would be compatible with the bolt pattern, pilot diameter and wheel stud size of your current hubs. The tire is 18 inches in diameter and has a section width of 5.9 inches. The tire has a C load rating, which is good for 910 lbs per tire when properly inflated to 75 psi. For more information about trailer tires, take a look at the Trailer Tire FAQ article I've linked for you.
