Cam Lock Reliability on Pack'Em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD
Question:
Any experience or thoughts on the design of the Cam Lock and its overall reliability? As far as Ratchet straps go, they tend to have a locking mechanism to insure they never open in transit. How does the Cam Lock in the #PK-WTD product insure this same reliability?

Expert Reply:
The cam on the Pack'Em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD is designed so that when it is closed down on the tightened strap it is pushed past the pivot point. This means that the handle will have no tendency to try to pop back open from pressure coming from the load on the strap. I did contact the technical staff at Pack 'Em and they confirmed that they have had absolutely no issues with this cam mechanism opening up when under load.
The mechanism has threading directions indicated right on it to simplify assembly and installation. Please refer to the linked video.
