How to Power a Tow Bar Braking System on a Vehicle that Has to Have Fuses Pulled
Question:
Good morning, We recently had a Blue Ox hitch and a Blue Ox Patriot braking System installed on our 2011 Buick Lacrosse. The hitch keeps draining the battery even though the car is on accessories and the braking system gives error code E1. The solution found by the GM dealer was to remove a fuse fuse #22. So far we have been able to use the hitch by removing the fuse to avoid draining the battery but have not been able to use the braking system. Has anyone else encountered this problem with a Buick Lacrosse? How can this problem be resolved as this braking system is required by law in many states we will be travelling to. Thank you for your response.

What you need is a # RM-9332. This will allow you to power the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR from your vehicle battery while the fuse is pulled.
What you can do is also run a 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot), from the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way on your tow vehicle to the positive post of the battery on the Lacrosse to keep a maintenance charge on it.
