Recommended Shank Insert And Locking Hitch Pin For Swagman Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier
Question:
I recently purchased the Swagman replacement shank P306 along with the Anti-Rattle Hitch lock S64031 and cable. The threaded bolt does not match the thread on the receiver that came in the shank. In fact I thought it needed to screw on tight so I forced it in and now the bolt wont unscrew and is stuck with the shank. What are my options?

You are going to have to take the hitch pin back out of the # P306 shank and get a couple of items. The # P306 shank and the # S64031 do not have matching threads which by now you are aware.
Chances are you stripped the threads on the shank and the hitch pin so we'll start with the parts you will need.
To replace the insert on the shank you will need part # P313. This is an inexpensive insert that just slips back inside the # P306 shank.
Then you will need part # S64029. This has the correct threads that are designed to work with the threads on the P306 shank. You can use the cable that came with the # S64031 with the # S64029.
If you decide against a locking hitch pin, you can use the anti rattle pin, part # P5902
