Recommended Converter To Convert Combined Wiring On Vehicle For Trailer With Separate Wiring

Question:

All the non-splice vehicle wire kits come out as a 4 wire harness. My vehicle is a 2014 Honda Civic EX sedan - non-Hybrid. Installed the Curtis wiring kit to rear lights as directed. My trailer uses full right turn, left turn, brake lights and are not combined like on many 4-wire trailers right/brake, left/brake, running lights, and ground. I dont want to splice into the car wires. Is there a converter module that uncouples the right/brake, left/brake signal to output individual signals that I can plug my 5-wire trailer into? Your #20036 and #47515 both require splicing. And, I would not be using the reverse signal from the car, but the brake signal. Perfect world - Car - Curtis 118420 wiring/protection module - 4 wire - 4/5 wire converter-Male 5 flat - W787264 5 wire - Waterproof male/female connectors - DW04906-1 to trailer female PK11609. Ive seen on YouTube someone with a schematic to do the conversion, but schematic is not really readable I thought maybe there is one made commercially, or your team would have an idea.

We do have a converter that will let you convert the combined brake and turn signals from your Honda without splicing into the vehicle wiring. The wiring would be done on your trailer.

I recommend part # 118158. You would cut the harness on your trailer and wire it to the 118158 converter as shown in the attached photo. Since it is not waterproof, you will need to use a junction box on the trailer like part # 38656.

You would need to use a 4-way trailer-side connector like part # HM48110 on the vehicle side of the converter.
