Is Diode Needed to Prevent Trailer Battery from Backfeeding to Breakaway System
Question:
I have a battery in my trailer that powers my lights inside. When the truck is towing the charge wire runs thru my breakaway system and on to my battery. The problem is when the truck is off my battery in my trailer back feeds and charges my trailer breakaway system. What do I need to prevent this?

Yes, you will want to use a single function diode, like part # RM-690. You will need to wire it in between the breakaway battery and the trailer battery to stop the backfeeding from the battery to the breakaway system.
