Tonneau Cover and Kayak Carrier Fit for 2015 GMC Canyon

Question:

I want to buy a mid-size truck, like a GMC Canyon 2015, but I want to have a tonneau roll/flip type cover AND a rack for my kayaks that will flip out of sight, like Invis-A-Rack. The rack is for carrying kayaks. If I used a headache rack, I would not be able see out the rear window. Is this impossible? Thanks so much

I have a solution for you, but a ladder rack may not be the answer. While we have the DeeZee Invis-A-Rack Folding Ladder Rack # DZ951601 for 6 foot beds or # DZ951551 for 5 foot beds, we do not have a tonneau cover that will work with this ladder rack.

In order to be able to install a tonneau cover and a ladder rack on a 2015 GMC Canyon, it is important to make sure that the installation of both items will not interfere with each other. You will want a low-profile tonneau cover that installs inside of your bed rails, like the Access Vanish # A92349 or the BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK26125. The ladder rack will need to install on top of your bed rails. All of the ladder racks that we offer for the Canyon mount around the side rails and would prevent a tonneau cover being installed.

Rather than a ladder rack to carry your kayaks over the bed of your truck, you could install a roof rack and carry your kayaks on the cab of your truck. The Thule WingBars # TH711400 in silver or # TH711420 in black, with the Evo clamp feet # TH710501, and the vehicle fit kit # TH145179 is a great system for the Canyon Crew Cab. The crossbars have a weight capacity of 165 pounds, but I recommend checking the owner's manual for the roof's weight capacity. If you need to transport multiple kayaks, Thule's The Stacker # TH830 will work well for you. This carrier can support up to 4 kayaks, no more than 10 feet long, on their sides. I have attached a review video of this carrier for you.
